Sights and Sounds

In the middle of Amish country of Lancaster County, PA, there is a unique place of Gods incredible activity called Sight and Sound Theatre.

The purpose of the theatre is not to dazzle their sold-out audiences with their realistic special effects or rousing choreographed chorus numbers, but to present the gospel of Jesus Christ with relevance and excellence. The entire organization is very Christ-centered from actors to ushers to administration and beyond. Literally hundreds of people are a part of sharing the gospel through this powerful point of performance. Involved are believers from all walks and denominations.

Granted, since my son and daughter-in-law are actors with Sight and Sound I may be a bit biased…but it also gives me a personal peek into the real “fabric” of the show.MOSES B

The theatre’s current production is of “MOSES” complete with the brick factory, plagues, miracles and advancement toward the Promised Land. One of my favorite lines of the show is during a conversation between Moses and Jethro. Moses says, “But you don’t know who I am.” Jethro replies, “No…YOU don’t know who you are!” These lines capture the truth that each of us faces when giving excuses to our holy God. He made us and knows us better than we know ourselves!

No matter what we face in life, God gives us the assurance that He is right there with us – leading the way and providing what’s needed.

I need to remember who I am in Christ…through Whom all things are possible.
