Last Sunday at church I heard a sermon on the love of Christ…from John 15:12.
It was a terrific expounding on God’s Word and served as a mirror to show me my very imperfect love for people.
Most of the things I love (i.e. watermelon, Banana Pudding, fall weather of SW Virginia…even some people) depend on the SUBJECT of the affection. i.e. if it tastes yummy, if it’s not raining, if they’re nice to me, etc.
But God’s love for me doesn’t depend on the SUBJECT (me) but the OBJECT, Christ! He doesn’t just know how to love…He is love!
On my own, I am not capable of loving like God. But…the good news…He can love people through me!
