Have you seen the Disney movie, “Tangled”? It’s the story of a girl, Rapunzel, with the long magical hair.
She is released from her tower by a handsome young man who has promised to fulfill his end of a deal.
So…for the first time in her life she leaves the tower during the absence of her wicked “mother”. During her first moments experiencing the feel of her feet on earth, she celebrates with emotional swings between elation and guilt. One moment she says, “I can’t believe I did this!” and the next, “I’m a terrible person”. And so her emotions swing quickly back and forth for a while.
I can relate to Rapunzel with her emotional swings. One moment I think, “Wow! God, you have something really exciting ahead for us!”. Then I swing to, “I can’t believe I put ourselves in this position.” It’s back and forth between spirit and flesh.
Staying in God’s Word is the key. When I am reminded by His Word of His promises and ways, I find comfort and assurance from His Spirit. He is like no other. There is nothing too great for Him. His mercies are new every morning and His thoughts are way beyond mine.
