Critters on the loose

One thing that Katha and I enjoy about living in the woods are the critters that live around us.

Without many human neighbors nearby, these animal friends are fun to watch during these days of our adventure. Included in the menagerie around us, we have enjoyed observing rabbits, chipmunks, turtles, horses, cows (open range along the road), turkeys, lots of varieties of birds, fish in the pond and deer. I guess the one critter that we don’t enjoy so much is “Sam”, the Black Snake, who visits occasionally. However, he helps keep undesirables away from our residence.

One of my favorite scenes was when I was driving down our gravel road a few days ago. To my left was a doe who just stood and stared at me. Then I saw why. I noticed on my right was a newborn fawn who was struggling to move over to its mom. After staggering with its wobbly legs, it finally made it across the road.

Even in the animal world the parent cares for its young.

Spiritually, I must always remember that my heavenly Father is watching over me to protect and provide. Even though there are times I may be “wobbly at the knees” I know He is there and will not abandon me.

Along with being a wonderful Savior, He is an incredible Creator.
