Bite your tongue!

I hate going to the dentist.

DentistYesterday I broke a tooth while eating a delicious granola bar at work. At first I thought that crunch was part of the bar but, alas, it was part of my tooth! Since we are new to the area, I scrambled to find a local dentist who could help me. The best we could do was schedule an appointment for this morning…which was OK since I was not experiencing any nerve pain.

The doctor and his assistant were very nice and competent. He made impressions for the crown ($$$$$) that would cover the damaged tooth. So when I left the dentist’s office I had a temporary crown, less money in my pocket and numbness that covered the left side of my face. What fun!

Now the only problem I am having is guarding against accidentally biting my tongue. While everything is numb I could really damage the inside of my mouth. Then, when the numbness wears off (and eventually it will), I would suffer needless pain from the damage done.

That’s sort of like when I dabble in sin. While in it, Satan can “numb” me to the aftereffects. But when the numbness wears off I am left with the pain of bad choices that pull me from the Lord. Praise Him for His forgiveness!

Now I’ll wait for the permanent crown!
