Wheel! Of! Fortune!

Who doesn’t enjoy watching “America’s favorite game show”?Wheel

When the kids were small, we used to watch “Wheel of Fortune” as a family. The name Vanna must be one of the most recognizable names in the country!

It was fun to try and guess the puzzle before the on-air contestants and then, if successful,  think, “I could have just won all that money!” And I always felt sorry for those who never won anything but came away with a consolation prize.

The most disappointing situations were where a contestant had accumulated lots of money and prizes but were hungry for more. I would verbally shout to the TV, “Don’t get greedy! Don’t get greedy!” Instead of stopping at a certain point they would spin one more time and invariable land the wheel on “Bankrupt”. Then Pat would share some “comforting” humor hoping to make the contestant feel better. But, alas, all the money and prizes were lost. The damage was done.

Greed is an awful thing. Seems like it is always easier to spot in others but not always easy to see in myself. It goes against the grain of my spiritual growth and leads me into wrong thinking. I want to be content with what I have and where I am.

“Teach me, Lord, to be satisfied in You!”
