Katha and I went to see the recently released movie, Ben Hur. What a great story in contrasting good vs. evil!
The Christian life is full of contrasts. Jesus, Himself, was a walking contrast with the Roman world. One true God vs. many false gods. Love vs. hate. Temporal vs eternal. Seen vs unseen. Natural vs supernatural.
So the challenge to me…
Is my life as a believer different from those of the world? There should be major points of contrast in my way of living. My trust is in Jehovah God! Is that showing in every area of my life: relationships, work, finances, etc. I hope so! But regularly taking a spiritual inventory is a healthy thing to do.
I confess that the most entertaining part of the Ben Hur film was the chariot race. It is essential to this classic story. And the race somehow brings fresh meaning to Psalm 20:7…
“Some trust in chariots and some in horses,
but we trust in the name of the Lord our God!”
