Dog sitting

Our son, Caleb , and his wife, Rachel, have a beautiful Golden Retriever named Posey. They have raised her from a puppy and have found great joy from her playful personality.

While they were recently in our area for an event, Caleb and Rachel left Posey in our care for a few days.

Posey is a charmer and loves being the center of attention. She is also a great hit with our two granddaughters.

I enjoy taking Posey on walks. I attach the leash to her collar and off we go. Most of the walk is pleasant and non-eventful but sometimes she picks up the scent of another animal that she wants to hunt down. Since her pull can be very strong, if I’m not careful she can yank the leash right out of my hands! It is all I can do to keep her on the right path.

This is probably the way God feels about me when I want to try a path other than His. When I venture off the path He has for me, He “yanks at my collar” but I may not surrender. If not, then He must take more aggressive measures to get me on track. Sometimes it shows up as adversity or even tragedy. But it is all for my good.

It behooves me to be a “good boy” when being led by the Lord!
