I hate to say it, Hollywood, but I will have to let you go.
Movies have always been a fun part of my life…beginning with seeing “The Wizard of Oz” at the local theater in Ft. Worth through enjoying “La La Land” recently in the Hampton Roads area.
Movies with “Aha!” moments are my favorite. All of a sudden my eyes can fill with tears or a big silent smile spreads across my face or some other type of emotional expression happens that I was not prepared for. Going to the movie theater has always been a terrific, though brief, time of escape from the pressures of life and…well…just plain fun.
The movie stars of the past were a joy to watch on the big screen. Along with terrific acting talent they promoted high ethical standards, had a love for America and displayed great respect to the President of the United States. They, for the most part, were even people to admire.
But things have changed.
When I see some of our Hollywood celebrities leading anti-President rallies, shouting obscenities toward America and behaving like spoiled little children, it breaks my heart and literally makes me sick at my stomach. Their behavior reveals who they really are and watching them on the big screen becomes soured. Their “bad” side certainly influences their “good” side. I don’t want to give them my financial support from the $8.50 movie ticket.
Not all Hollywood celebrities are like this and I will continue to support those who seem to have great hearts and right priorities. But the rabble rousers? No way.
Over the years, Hollywood has been in transition. Downward. Sad.
