Is anybody there?

Ever feel alone? I mean REALLY alone? Jesus did.

Psalm 22 is a clear (prophetic) picture of what Jesus went through on the cross. He had no friends with Him, no family. Even His heavenly Father turned away from Him as He was dying.

Jesus “walked through the valley of the shadow of death” all alone so that later He could “walk through the valley of the shadow of death” with me.

At times it may seem God is silent and far away – but He is always near. Often, when God seems silent it is because He is working “behind the scenes” on something fantastic! I need only to trust Him and not try to figure everything out. As Steven Curtis Chapman’s song says, God is in the process of revealing “a glorious unfolding!”

I can’t figure out how it all works…but I can trust God to be with me in those “alone” times that are sure to come.

Through the years I have enjoyed serving local churches in the areas of music and worship. It has been a great ride! Currently, I have the privilege of serving with the good people of West Hampton Baptist Church in Hampton, Virginia. It is a terrific church family where God is doing a unique and powerful work.
