Busy, busy, busy

From my office window at Regent University I can look out over the beautiful campus and watch people come and go between classes.

Today I saw a girl ride by who was (1) riding her bike with no hands, (2) texting on her phone, and (3) listening to music/podcast on her headphones. She was a great picture of our world today. Busy beings.

Few people want to slow down these days. Just notice other drivers on the road or customers standing in line at Wal-Mart or foot traffic in the mall. In fact, sitting still or in silence has a tendency to make many nervous/anxious. They may have a problem with Psalm 46:10…

He says, “Be still, and know that I am God”.

In our busy world of instant everything, continuous multi-tasking and complex agendas it is refreshing to pause for a moment of renewal in the presence of the Lord.

Take a deep breath and count to ten.
