Resurrected Hope

Many people today have lost their sense of hope. Oftentimes, a temporal perspective can rob me of my future hope.

A popular movie of our day is Beauty and the Beast. Disney’s cartoon version was a huge hit and the stage play has been performed hundreds of times by theatres of all levels. And now, the “people” version of the movie is gaining in popularity all around the country.

As you recall from the near-end of the story, the Beast finally wins the heart of Belle but then chooses to release her to go find/help her father – knowing it will doom him and his estate to live out their days as animate objects instead of human beings.

After setting Belle free, the Beast goes into a sort of depression – and loss of hope – even to the point of refusing to fight the approaching mob of townspeople. Without Belle, he just didn’t care anymore. Hope lost.

But then…

Belle returns! And hope is resurrected! (I love movies with happy endings!)

God is active in helping to resurrect hope in His children. Sometimes, I mess things up and have to deal with depression and a sense of hopelessness. But God doesn’t leave me there. He works to reveal Himself and His ways. Then, as David says in Psalm 23:4

“HE RESTORES MY SOUL!”

I am thankful to have a heavenly Father who does not leave me where I am on the journey of life but shows me a much better path.

Resurrected hope is a wonderful thing!
