Changed Lives

“What’s going on?, asked Penelope Who,
“Why are we here and then what shall we do?”

Said Sylvester What, “It’s as clear as can be!
The rest of you follow and act just like me.”

“But I’m not at all sure that I can begin
To be just like you”, said Bartholomew When.

“Whatever we do we should all just stay put”,
Added Waverly Where as he planted his foot.

“There has to be reason, I cannot deny,
For our mere existence,” said Willoughby Why.

So, all five continued to tell what they thought
With nothing accomplished and no purpose brought.

Then one day a stranger came right down their street
With a big strange contraption that bellowed and beeped.

“I’m Andy McFixit! I’m here on this day
To answer your questions then go on my way.
You need only enter my ‘change it’ machine
To answer more questions than you’ve ever seen.

No ticket is needed for this awesome ride.
The price has been paid so just come on inside!”
Who, What, When and Where liked the thought of the plan
But Why had another concern for the man:
“Just why would you do this? What’s in it for you?
It sounds really good and too good to be true.”

Said Andy McFixit, “I’ll tell you, my friend,
There’s no catch involved from beginning to end.
Just trust me and my plan as you step inside
Then you’ll see new purpose and dreams open wide.”
So all five stepped up to McFixit’s machine
A little bit anxious of what this could mean.

The thing began chugging and rocking about
Then one by one started to spew them all out.

Amazingly, each began speech with intent;
To understand life and the purpose it meant.

Why had the answers that Who asked before,
And Who then encouraged Where to open his door
To new great adventures that called out his name
Then Where challenged When to prepare for the same.

The last of the five to be changed for the best
Was Sylvester What and his misguided quest.
“Nobody should try to live life just like me,
But find out the way and be all you can be.”

So humbly and happily each made his way
With new found direction obtained on that day.

Should you have more questions than answers to life,
There’s no need for panic or worry or strife.

Find Andy McFixit and his great machine
To find more adventure than you’ve ever seen!
