Faith at work

One of the joys of working at Regent University is meeting Christians from various denominations and from all around the globe.

This morning we had the opportunity to meet a man who is a priest in the Christian Orthodox Church – Coptic Christian – from Egypt. He now ministers to his congregation in the Hampton Roads area. Just a few weeks ago this man and his wife lost several friends in the terrorist activity that bombed three Christian churches in his homeland. Yet with smiles on their faces and Christ in their hearts they continue to serve our gracious Lord.

It caused me to take spiritual inventory of my own life. How strong is my faith?

I am not being persecuted, bombed or beheaded for my faith. Yet I sometimes get upset when things don’t go “my way”. Instead of dwelling on my meager frustrations, I need to count my blessings. One of which is to live in a country where I can worship publicly as I please.

“Thank you, Lord, for letting me live in a country where I can practice my faith without fear of being killed for it!”
