Our tours of the Regent University campus include a visit to the school Chapel.
It’s a beautiful structure where our weekly chapel services are presented…as well as other campus-wide events. Since our campus is built in the style of Colonial Williamsburg, the Chapel carries that same look.
It is very traditional in its structure but the worship services are quite contemporary and energetic. The services are led by a praise team of singers and band members and make use of
projected lyrics and an elaborate sound
system.
Since our’s is a non-denominational school ranging from conservative Catholics to charismatic Pentecostals, the service includes all types of worship expressions. I believe it is a healthy mix of Christian faiths.
One thing we mention on the tour of the Chapel is the “fun fact” that, before the walls were painted and the carpet was laid, some people came in with markers and wrote scripture all over the walls and floors. Of course, now it is all covered but the verses are still there.
In some ways, it is a reminder of the Holy Spirit. We can’t see Him, but He is there!
And, of course, it is the Holy Spirit that holds our school together…just as He holds local churches together.
As believers, we may have different understandings about some things and worship a bit differently but it is still the Holy Spirit that unites us.
May we keep our eyes on Him!
