As a kid, we used to play “Hide and Seek” under the street light at the corner in our neighborhood.
While everyone would go hide, “It” would close his/her eyes and count to 25. Then after “25” was reached he/she would yell “Ready or not, here I come!” before seeking those who were hiding.
At my current job we choose various dispositions which fit what we are doing at the moment. The basic ones are ”Ready” and “Not Ready”.
In “Ready” I am alert to receive phone calls and make outbound calls as needed. In “Not ready” I am on another project and not prepared to answer calls.
Spiritually, I need to remain in “Ready” as I anticipate the Lord’s return. I certainly do not want to be in a state of “Not Ready” when He comes for His church.
Many scriptures point to the second coming of Jesus Christ. A few are Acts 1:11 (Coming in the same way He left), Matthew 24:36 (Nobody knows when He will come), 1 Thessalonians 4:16 (The Lord will descend from heaven) and 2 Peter 3:10 (He will come as a thief in the night!)
I had a seminary professor who said there are 3 things we know about the return of Jesus:
1. He is coming back.
2. We don’t know when he’s coming back.
3. Until He returns we need to be busy at the task He has assigned us!
Ready or not, here He comes!
