Fingerprints

When investigating a crime scene, officials will nearly always do a search for fingerprints. Why? Because fingerprints can point to the individual who was there at the time.

Fingerprints are unique to each individual and can be used as evidence to reveal the one responsible.

Sometimes, when “life happens” I do a search for God’s fingerprints in a particular situation. Not that there is a crime but I am wondering why such-and-such happened. Who is the one responsible?

Where does one look for God’s fingerprints? Well, I can find His fingerprints:

(1) in the circumstances that proceeded the event in question. Since He is in control of all things, I have to believe He caused or allowed certain things to happen.

(2) in the relationships that were involved. Was there godly counsel sought or did I just use my own thinking? Or maybe I relied on worldly counsel from the media or unbelievers?

(3) in His Word. The pages of the Bible are covered all over with His fingerprints! So the question is…am I going where He led or doing my own thing?

Many times I blame God for things that weren’t really His fault. On closer examination, whose fingerprints are revealed? His or mine?
