The Great Raid

I recently viewed the movie The Great Raid on Netflix. It was released in 2005. The movie is about a daring rescue of American Prisoners of War (POW) from a Japanese prison camp located in the Philippines during World War II. The year was 1944. The challenge was for American troops to rescue the POWs before they were executed by their captives.

Spoiler alert…mission accomplished!

Spiritually, we are in a similar position. Satan is holding everybody around the globe captive as POWs who desperately need to be rescued. Many of us have been rescued but there are many more still in need of experiencing the great Rescuer.

In the movie, there were those who had given up hope of surviving. In our world, there also are those who have lost hope. But hope is available to all who will trust the great Rescuer, Jesus Christ.

For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. John 3:17 (ESV)

If you have been rescued, someone else may need your helping hand.
