Navigating these times

I very much enjoy the Indiana Jones movies. My favorite is The Last Crusade featuring Harrison Ford and Sean Connery.

After a long quest in search of the holy grail, Indiana Jones must save the life of his father who has been gravely shot. To save his dad’s life, Indiana must find the holy grail that has life-giving abilities. However, he is still three challenges away.

One of the challenges is to navigate over some stepping stones by choosing those with letters that spell the name of God: JEHOVAH. Stepping on any other stone’s letters would be fatal.

Without giving details about the movie’s ending, let’s just say it ends happily.

Today, we find ourselves in a time when Christians must walk carefully across the “stepping stones” of our culture. How are we to navigate safely through the issues of Covid-19, civil unrest and pre-election politics?

We must trust JEHOVAH – not the letters but the person.

Each believer must follow his/her Bible based convictions…not with an attitude of patronizing superiority but from a heart of compassionate humility. We MUST stay true to God’s Word.

Then we will succeed not at finding the holy grail but finding a much greater reward – pleasing our heavenly Father.

“Show me Your ways, O Lord, teach me Your paths.” Psalm 25:4
