Many years ago during my Youth Ministry days we did an activity that was called an Affirmation Circle. All the youth formed their chairs in a circle and someone was chosen to sit in the center and be “it”.
One by one, we progressed around the circle with each student saying something positive about the person sitting in the center. Honestly, it was easier to find something positive to say for some people than for others. But something good can be found in every person.
Some of the students needed the affirmation – encouragement – because they seldom received any at home or school. It was a terrific exercise in building relationships.
A friend once said, “No one is encouraged enough.” How true! I want to be an encourager. Not because it is demanded of me but because it will help make me more like Jesus. He was, and still is, the greatest Encourager of us all!

The Affirmation Circle or some variation of has been used in many churches and in schools. I have used it myself It is a wonderful exercise to bring self esteem , respect and love for others.
