These are certainly crazy pre-election days. Through all the noise, I choose to follow Christ. (Sounds biblical, huh?) And to be with Him is to value His Word and the things He values.
Though God is love, King Soloman tells us that there are a few things that God actually hates. (Proverbs 6:16-19 – NIV)
There are six things the LORD hates, seven that are detestable to him:
1. Haughty eyes,
2. A lying tongue,
3. Hands that shed innocent blood,
4. A heart that devises wicked schemes,
5. Feet that are quick to rush into evil,
6. A false witness who pours out lies,
7. A person who stirs up conflict in the community.
These are some pretty powerful points. And these are not my words – they’re God’s!
What does this say about America’s political parties?
No political persuasion is perfect. But no matter our leanings, we must ensure we are following as closely as possible to God’s desires.
My prayer is that God will bless and advance those who live by His values. Then, according to Micah 6:8, my responsibility is to live being fair, kind and humble. And it all starts with prayer and repentance on the part of His people. (! Chronicles 7:14)
