I hate getting old. Aging adversely affects my body…hearing, vision, movement…but, strangely, my mind continues to think of myself as thirty-something.
However, one of the benefits of getting older is seeing God’s faithfulness over the past years. One of my favorite verses from God’s Word is found in the forty-sixth chapter of Isaiah. Verse four reads:
“Even to your old age I will be the same,
And even to your graying years I will carry you!
I have done it, and I will bear you;
And I will carry you and I will save you.”
I am so glad that God has never left me through the years. He has been there since 1952 to bear me, carry me and save me!

A few verses later in that same chapter He says:
“Remember the former things long past,
For I am God, and there is no other;
I am God, and there is no one like Me.”
Some things, we are to forget. But some things, we are to remember. In times of discouragement, I can look back and see how God came to my rescue by carrying me through a difficult time. As a friend once told me, when going through life “keep your focus above!”
