I will never understand the aeronautic principles that allow an airplane to fly.
And commercial airlines have planes that can carry hundreds of people for hours at a time. A few years ago I was on a flight to New Zealand where we were in the air 12 hours. 12 HOURS! I was grateful we had a pilot who didn’t leave the office early that day!
Even in my limited understanding of flight principles, I know that the plane must have two wings. Without one of them, the plane is going down! But together, they carry the plane to safely deliver the on-board passengers.
Imagine the Christian life as an airplane. And the plane has two wings. We’ll call them “Faith” and “Works”. Just as an airplane must have two wings, so the Christian life must have two wings. Without both, the “plane” will not have a happy landing.
James discussed it in the second chapter of his book in the Bible…
“Dear friends, do you think you’ll get anywhere in this if you learn all the right words but never do anything? Does merely talking about faith indicate that a person really has it?”
James 2:14
Hmmm… Good question.
“Lord, please guide our “planes” to a safe landing as we love You and trust Your voice from Air Traffic Control.”
