Bait and Switch?

Have you ever gone into a store with the intent of buying an item that you saw was on sale at a ridiculously low price only to find the product to be unavailable and another, higher priced, item in its place? It happens too often in the retail world. Especially around the time of “Black Friday”.

God doesn’t “play games” with His children…intentionally trying to mislead them. He wants to reveal His will for me more than I want to find it.

One of the most important spiritual lessons I have learned over the years is that I don’t FIND God’s will – He REVEALS it. Keeping my mind focused on Him is key to knowing His will – which is good, acceptable and perfect.

There seems to be this tension between asking, seeking, knocking (Luke 11:9) and being content with where I am (Philippians 4:11).

I am a work in process. And I will never have it all figured out this side of heaven.
But I know this: My only hope is in Christ…and the Father is a Giver of only good gifts.

“Don’t bargain with God. Be direct. Ask for what you need. This is not a cat-and-mouse, hide-and-seek game we’re in. If your little boy asks for a serving of fish, do you scare him with a live snake on his plate? If your little girl asks for an egg, do you trick her with a spider? As bad as you are, you wouldn’t think of such a thing—you’re at least decent to your own children. And don’t you think the Father who conceived you in love will give the Holy Spirit when you ask him?”       Luke 11: 10-13 (The Message)
