Encourage me

As you go through the day, everybody who crosses your path needs to be encouraged. I once heard it said that no one is encouraged enough. How true!

Chuck Swindoll wrote a book called Encourage Me in which he says,

“Encouragement is awesome. Think about it: It has the capacity to lift a man’s or a woman’s shoulders. To breathe fresh air into the fading embers of a smoldering dream. To actually change the course of another human being’s day . . . or week . . . or life.”

Sometimes my life seems to follow the route of a roller coaster. At times, it climbs to encouraged heights…and at other times I plunge to depths of discouragement.

It’s amazing how – more often than not – when I am discouraged, I can be encouraged by encouraging someone else.

And it doesn’t take a lot to encourage someone else. Maybe just a pleasant greeting or eye-contact with a smile. I don’t need a degree in counseling to be an encourager – just a right heart and desire.

“Help me, Lord, to get outside myself today to be an encouragement to those who cross my path!”
