Is it more important to be or to do?
Katha and I went tonight to see the movie, WHEN THE GAME STANDS TALL. Not wanting to issue a needed “spoiler alert”, let me just say this is an incredible movie for our day. America needs this message which declares the great need for character, perseverance and other-centeredness.
We used to get this type of inspiration from our country’s leaders and those in celebrity status. Not much anymore. And, of course, we continue to be pointed to these life traits from the Christ-centered church. I am thankful for movie makers and actors who are not afraid to put these qualities on the big screen for all to see.
It reminds me that what I do doesn’t define who I am. In fact, its the other way around. Who I am defines what I do!
No matter where I end up…no matter what my job…no matter what my responsibilities, I am a child of the King who is called to worship Him by pleasing Him. He made me as I am to be used by Him. That’s true for all of us.
People see the exterior of my life – what I do. But God sees the interior – who I am. I want to be yielded to Him in order to develop those inward qualities that will lead to making a difference in the Kingdom through outward demonstrations.
My homework: During these days of transition, be SURE to stay in the Word and sensitive to the unseen Force that directs my path.
I did not know till this am and Rick told me we could leave you a message, who knew? I have so enjoyed reading your blogs and seeing the beautiful pictures of Caleb and Rachael’s wedding. Loved the McDonalds story…definitely not a coincidence! We miss you and Katha and continue to pray for you both as God watches and waits for just the right time to show you what to do! You are both such wonderful stewards of God and I know will be richly blessed. Know we are thinking of you often!

Hey Dad,
At the Steven Curtis Chapman concert this weekend, I heard his song “Glorious Unfolding” for the first time. I immediately thought of you and Mom as you are in the midst of a season that doesn’t make much sense. I hope you are encouraged by this music video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h3Q7wUoQV5Q. God always has a plan!
Love you,

A DAILY INTENTIONAL striving to shake off the need for worldy approval and seek to receive, attain, achieve approval ONLY from The One who matters. Let Him who made this heart be the caretaker of it for eternity, guarding it, changing it, using it all for HIS glory!

Jill, how true! This world does all it can to pull me away from my audience of One. It’s a daily, intentional struggle but so worth it!
