Sing Around the Campfire

Craig and Katha 2
Craig and Katha

There is something encouraging about being around people who love the Lord and want to worship Him together.

During this “in between” time of jobs,  it has been fun for Katha and me to visit other churches. Something we have never been able to do in all our thirty-six years of married life. (Except when on vacation.)  It is refreshing to see how other brothers and sisters in the Lord spend their energies in corporate worship.

In worship, some people like the band music loud and discover God when finding themselves immersed in the sound. Others find it to be more worshipful when singing four part hymns with only piano accompaniment. Some prefer acoustic instruments while others want amplified accompaniment. Some stand, some sit. Hands raised, or not. Dark room, bright room. Etc.

Regardless of our preferences, it is important that we experience God’s presence TOGETHER and praise His name TOGETHER.

“Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing ONE ANOTHER with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs…”
Colossians 3:16

Like a burning log that is pulled away from a glowing campfire, our spiritual energy will be extinguished without the fellowship of fellow believers.

Let’s keep the fire burning!

  1. Craig, I love reading your blog posts! Your words encourage ME and remind me to trust His heart each day!!! And I’m excited for the day when God places you in His next “assignment” for you and Katha. This waiting period may not be JUST a transition between two jobs. WAITING may be the place He wants you to be right now… being still and listening to Him. (Of course, you’ve been pretty busy with wedding plans… but I bet it’s been refreshing to be busy at something different.) God changes things up for all of us from time to time and I’m very proud of the way YOU are handling this new chapter of your life! I love you and I’m praying for you, little brother!
