What a thrill!

When I was in college there was a place in Brownwood that was known as “Thrill Hill”. No – it wasn’t one of those dating places like “Inspiration Point”. Just a steep hill with a very sudden drop on a street outside the town. It was fun to take newbies there on a leisurely tour of the area and then without warning – aayyyeee – it was a drop that moved stomach to mouth!

Life is like that at times. I can just be cruising along enjoying the ride when all of a sudden – aayyee – I find myself on an unexpected and steep drop! “Didn’t see THAT coming!”

God has a way of getting our attention by causing/allowing certain circumstances to “take our breath away.” (Death of a friend, heartbreak by a family member, discovering cancer, loss of a job, major disappointment, etc.) Sometimes we eventually know the reason for the unexpected wrinkle…and sometimes we will have to wait until having a conversation with Jesus on the golden streets. Either way, we can trust that God is in control.

At the risk of sounding too spiritual, may I say that my only hope really is in Him. When I think of where I will be a hundred years from now, it makes my current situation seem pretty small. If I can trust God with my future, why can’t I trust Him with my now?

Brace yourself – I think there is a drop in the road ahead!

  1. I continue to pray for you and Katha and for God to reveal His plan for you! And as in your post I believe whatever He has planned will certainly be a great “thrill”. Miss you both! Lynne Leary
