Thumpity thump thump

Here I am in the piano lab of Blacksburg High School.

It has been a terrific day being with the students in Jazz Choir, Madrigal Singers and Piano Lab. They are full of energy and probably more respectful of a substitute teacher than I was in my High School years.

As at any school, I look around and see gobs of productive potential. These kids (I guess the PC word is students) have all kinds of interests in English, Math, Music, Visual Art,, Engineering, etc. In a few short years they and others like them will be the leaders in our community.

Right now they are just exploring. Some don’t even know what their interests are…what to pursue in life. And that’s OK. There’s time.

Some of these kids know the Lord and others, probably most, do not. Some how, one can tell the difference. There is a certain countenance and respect for others that is evident.

It is exciting to see teens seek their niche for the future of this society. It’s even more exciting to see saved kids seek God’s niche for them. To pursue His lead is an act of worship. Imagine that – worship happening at a public school!

pianokeysWell, it’s about time for the final bell of the day and the halls will be filled with faculty, staff and students anxious to leave the school campus. Right now, in this piano lab, all I hear is the thumping of keys on keyboards that are being used with headphones in place. But that’s all about to change.
