Protection or Provision?

Having many choices can lead to indecision or confusion.Question mark 2

I think one of the most interesting places within The Home Depot where I work is in front of the drawer knob section.

The store displays hundreds of knobs of varying sizes, shapes and colors. Some customers stop and stare at the knobs for hours (Not really hours…but you know what I mean.”)

Upon approaching the customers to offer help, it is not unusual to receive a reply such as, “No thanks…I’m just looking.” And after quite a while, they are STILL looking! They are trying to imagine their cabinets back home and which knob will be the best match for their situation. Having many choices can lead to indecision or confusion.

I am grateful that the spiritual world offers fewer choices. Only two, really: Will I trust God or not?

Asking God for His protection is legit. There are many places in God’s Word that speak of Him as our refuge…our fortress…our shield. Places of protection. But what about the times when He chooses to remove protection and allow certain difficulties or pain in our lives? What then?

It all comes down to God’s sovereignty.

Even if God’s protection is removed, I can still trust that His provision will always be there.

Will I trust God or not? The choice is simple.

  1. I love that line, Craig: “Even if God’s protection is removed, I can still trust that His provision will always be there.” It encourages me today and I’ve written it down for encouragement in the future!
