Me Tarzan, You Jane.

TarzanRemember those old Tarzan movies?

Every Saturday during my growing up years I anticipated watching the Tarzan movies with all their African adventures, villains and heroism. Even today they are fun to watch. Beyond the Tarzan character, some things that come to my mind about those black and white classics are: chimps, elephants (the herds seemed to move in cinematic fast motion), lions, Cheeta, Boy, Jane, alligator wrestling, the jungle, bad guys, natives, tree houses, and happy endings.

The fastest mode of transportation through the jungle was swinging from vine to vine. Concerning the vines, think about this:

To make progress one had to swing on one vine to another…and so forth to your destination. To swing to another vine but not let go of the current vine would result in stalled momentum or, even worse, backward regression.

In life, God gives me opportunities (vines) on which to “travel”. Sometimes I must let go of one opportunity to move to the next. I confess that “letting go” of vines is not an easy thing for me. As Peter said to Jesus at the transfiguration: “This is so great, let’s just stay here.” (My paraphrase)

But change happens and I must be willing to move on. The only thing that doesn’t change is God Himself. PTL!

Gotta go. I see another vine ahead.
