I have a friend who loves studying meteorology. She especially enjoys meteorological situations found in the Bible.
Wind seems to be used a great deal in God’s Word. God used a east wind to divide the Red Sea for the Israelites to escape through. Jesus calmed the waters by rebuking the wind. There are references to wind concerning rudders, doctrines and the four corners of the earth.
God continues to have total control over the physical winds of this world.
For instance, I remember back during Operation Desert Storm that He turned back the winds carrying chemical warfare from covering our American troops overseas. And today hurricanes follow the routes that He has designed.
He also has total control over the spiritual winds of this world.
In 2 Chronicles 7:14 He has given us instructions for changing the spiritual winds around us:
“If My people who are called by My name will
humble themselves, and
pray, and
seek My face, and
turn from their wicked ways, then(my emphasis)
I will hear from heaven,
will forgive their sin and
will heal their land.”
I cannot see the wind but I know it’s there. I cannot see God but I know He’s there!

Craig, as I read your inspiring words at this moment, I’m sitting with Mom here in T’kana at the nursing home. There is a slight autumn breeze just outside her window, and I’m reminded of His presence. She’s resting, and I’m blessed to know she’s in His hands, yet I know she longs for her heavenly home. Thank you for words of encouragement.
