Monday of this week was “Memorial Day” for our country.
On a day when we rightfully remember those who paid the ultimate price for our freedom, God brought forth my third granddaughter. It was an emotional day ranging from solemn remembrance to joyful celebration!
Elise Clare Graham was born Monday morning at 2:25 am in a very uneventful (PTL!) fashion.
Several hours after Elise was born, Mimi and I took her two big sisters to the hospital so they could meet their new baby sister. And what an exciting meeting it was! As we got closer to the hospital the excitement grew. Then riding on the hospital elevator to the appropriate floor, the smiles could not be contained on this four and two year old as they anticipated greeting the baby.
Then the moment came: seeing Elise for the first time! Many gentle hugs, “sugars” and sweet displays of affection. Both Eden and Emmie got to hold the baby (under Mom’s watchful assistance!) and could not stop marveling at the baby’s tiny features.
We all started this way: little bitty. Then by God’s grace we grew in body, soul and mind.
From Psalm 139 come these thoughts:
For You formed my inward parts;
You wove me in my mother’s womb.
I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;Your eyes have seen my unformed substance;
And in Your book were all written
The days that were ordained for me,
When as yet there was not one of them.
God has a terrific future ahead of Elise…and all the rest of us who will trust His guidance.
What an awesome Creator of abundant life!
What a joy and blessing for your dear family.
Congratulations!
