Born, Borne or Bourne?

Although these three words are pronounced the same, there are big differences between them.

I love watching the Jason Bourne movies where Matt Damon plays the role of a CIA assassin who deals with extreme memory loss. Of all the films in the series “The Bourne Supremacy” (second in the series of five) is my favorite. I will watch the entire movie just to see the scene where Jason says (via phone connection from a nearby rooftop) to the CIA director leading the search for him, “Get some sleep, Pam. You look tired.”

And it’s a beautiful thing when a baby is born. A miracle, really. Consider the birth of an animal. And even more so, the birth of a human.  Each birth shows the power, creativity and grace of our heavenly Father. He is the almighty Creator!

And He doesn’t stop His there! For believers, He continues to bear them thus they are borne by Him. Even a casual reading of verses 3 and 4 from Isaiah’s 46th chapter makes this clear…

“Listen to Me, O house of Jacob,
And all the remnant of the house of Israel,
You who have been borne by Me from birth
And have been carried from the womb;

Even to your old age I will be the same,
And even to your graying years I will bear you!
I have done it, and I will carry you;
And I will bear you and I will deliver you.”

I am so glad, now that my “graying years” are here, that He will not stop bearing me…carrying me…delivering me. How grateful I am to be BORNE by Him!

  1. Clever use of those homophones–of course this teacher would say that. 😊
    I may not always respond, but enjoy reading each time. Hope you are doing well.
