The Rabbit Hole

I love the story of Alice and her adventures down the rabbit hole.

Lewis Carroll has given us a terrific tale in the story of Alice in Wonderland. Although the British book was first published in 1865, it continues to have enormous popularity in film and literature.

Spiritually speaking, there are times when I want to escape down a rabbit hole. But this goes against the “green pastures and still waters” that God has provided.

Satan would like nothing better than to pull me down a hole that is fantasy-filled with strange creatures and surroundings…in an attempt to draw me away from the Creator.

But instead of gaining advice from a caterpillar, I must seek counsel from Him. And instead of following the time frame of a worrisome white rabbit, I must depend on His perfect timing. I will not fear a threatening Queen of Hearts but will trust the King of my heart. No Cheshire cat will mock me or lead me astray. And although sometimes filled with tremendous blessing, life is no tea party but a pilgrim journey.

Alice’s “hole escapade” began as a result of her drowsiness and boredom. Especially during times when I may feel similarly, I must cling to Him and His ways. He has an amazing plan for me.

I may not understand His path but I can be sure it will not lead me down a fantasy filled rabbit hole.
